Why did I get Married? (2007) Pt.1

To me, this is Tyler Perry’s best franchise that covers all different types of black love. It is about a group of friends, husbands and wives, whom all go on this annual couples’ vacation to the Colorado Mountains. It was originally one of his play’s that centered around what happens when a mistress enters a strong marriage.
The cast in the movie is phenomenal, with Janet Jackson (Patricia), Jill Scott (Sheila), Tasha Smith (Angela) and Sharon Leal (Diane). It also consists of a few other well-known actors who have previously worked with Tyler Perry.
A quick synopsis will tell more about the classic films in black culture. It deals with passion, infidelity, self-worth, and religion about love. All of the couples plan to meet up at the cabin together however the travel to get there causes some issues right off the bat.
One couple, Sheila and Mike, plan to fly to Colorado for the trip however, once arriving on the plane, someone complains about Sheils being too big to sit in the seat next to her. Since it was a full flight, she had to find another way there and by herself. Her husband was a fundamental tool who, instead of being there for her, made her drive there.
Later on, we find out that he invited one of his coworkers there and was having an affair with her the entire time before the trip while everyone was looking for Sheila because they had not heard from her.
Another pivoting plot point was the comedic relief between Marcus and Angela throughout the entire film. If I am being honest, their relationship was like the stereotypical hood love story with a baby momma, cheating and fighting etc. Of course, they bickered back and forth the whole time about trivial things but in the end, we knew it was really out of insecurities and love.
